Riveting SPM Machine
Riveting SPM Machine Manufacturer in Pune, India
VR Automation designs and builds riveting special purpose machines — rotary index table SPMs, multi-spindle and dual-head machines, inline and invert riveting SPMs, and fully automatic assembly cells — engineered from your component drawing outward.
A riveting SPM exists for one reason: your component cannot be riveted fast enough, accurately enough or consistently enough on a standard machine. We design the stations, fixtures, feeding and controls around the part and your takt time, build and trial the machine in Pune, and commission it on your line.

Why Manufacturers Move to a Riveting SPM
Takt Time You Cannot Hit Manually
Parallel stations and automatic feeding take cycle time down to the slowest single operation.
Multi-Point Riveting in One Cycle
Several rivets set together, so the part is finished in one load instead of being repositioned by hand.
Defects Designed Out
Rivet-present and orientation checks stop a bad part at the machine, not at your customer’s goods-in.
Consistency Across Shifts
Machine-controlled force and sequence remove operator-to-operator variation.
Riveting SPM Types We Build
Rotary Index Table Riveting SPM
The component rides a cam-indexed rotary table through load, rivet, verify and unload stations. Loading happens while riveting happens, so the operator never waits on the machine.
Multi-Spindle & Dual-Head SPM
Two or more riveting heads set rivets in the same stroke. Multi-point components finish in one cycle, and load is applied symmetrically so the part is not pulled out of position.
Inline Riveting SPM
Stations arranged along a conveyor or transfer line, so riveting becomes one step of a continuous assembly line rather than an island beside it.
Invert Riveting SPM
Riveting from beneath the component for deep housings, obstructed features, or assemblies that must be built face-down to protect a finished surface.
Automatic & Auto-Feed SPM
Rivets presented automatically from a bowl feeder, so the operator never handles a loose rivet and the commonest multi-rivet defect — the rivet never placed — is designed out.
Semi-Automatic Riveting SPM
Manual load and unload with a machine-controlled riveting cycle. The right starting point when volumes do not yet justify full automation.
Heavy Component Riveting SPM
Larger frames, heavier fixturing and higher-force heads for structural parts and heavy components.
Custom Assembly SPM
Riveting combined with pressing, screwing, clinching or leak testing in one controlled cycle, engineered from your component drawing.
Robotic & CNC-Positioned SPM
Robot loading or CNC-positioned riveting heads can be specified where rivet positions vary between part numbers or loading must be hands-free.

Custom (Non-Standard) Riveting SPM

Controls, Inspection & Integration Options
Specify these at enquiry stage and they are designed into the machine from the start rather than bolted on afterwards.
PLC-Controlled Cycle
Programmed sequence, interlocks and fault handling, so the machine runs the same way on every shift.
Poka-Yoke Error Proofing
Part presence, orientation and rivet-present sensing, so a wrong-way load or missed rivet stops the cycle instead of reaching your customer.
Vision Inspection
Camera checks for rivet presence, head formation or component variant before the part is released.
Servo-Controlled Riveting
Servo heads where forming depth or force must be programmed and monitored per rivet rather than set mechanically.
SCADA & Data Logging
Cycle counts, rejects and per-part results exported to SCADA or MES for traceability and OEE reporting.
Operator Safety
Guarding, light curtains and two-hand control designed around the actual load and unload movement.

Typical Riveting SPM Configurations
Every SPM is engineered for its component, but most riveting automation projects follow one of these build patterns:
| Configuration | How it is built | Suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Rotary index multi-station | Cam-indexed table, load / rivet / verify / unload stations, automatic rivet feed | High-volume automotive components with several rivets |
| Dual-head simultaneous | Two riveting heads at fixed spacing forming in one stroke | Two-rivet parts that distort when riveted one at a time |
| Inline transfer cell | Riveting station on a conveyor, interlocked with the line | Continuous assembly lines with a fixed takt |
| Invert riveting station | Heads working from beneath a face-down component | Deep housings and protected finished faces |
| Combined assembly SPM | Riveting plus pressing, screwing or leak testing in one cycle | Sub-assemblies that currently move between several machines |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a riveting SPM machine?
A riveting special purpose machine is built for one component or family of components. Frame, riveting heads, fixture, feeding and controls are all specified for that part, rather than adapting a general-purpose riveting machine to the job.
When should I choose a riveting SPM over a standard riveting machine?
When a standard machine physically cannot reach the rivet positions, when several rivets or operations need combining into one cycle, when your takt time cannot be met by manual loading, or when the process needs poka-yoke to stop a specific defect reaching the customer.
How does a rotary index table riveting SPM work?
The component is loaded into a fixture on a cam-indexed rotary table. Each index carries it to the next station — riveting, additional rivets or operations, verification — and back to unload. Because stations work at the same time, cycle time falls to the slowest station rather than the sum of all of them.
What is the cost of a special purpose riveting machine in India?
Our catalogue riveting SPMs start from around ₹ 44,000 for a base machine, with dual-head machines at about ₹ 3,70,000. A complete multi-station SPM with automatic feeding, controls and fixturing is quoted against your component, because station count, fixtures and control scope drive the price.
Can a riveting SPM be integrated into our existing assembly line?
Yes. Inline SPMs are designed around your conveyor or transfer system, line height and takt time, and interlocked with upstream and downstream equipment.
Do you supply PLC, vision inspection and SCADA integration?
These can be specified as part of the build. Tell us the control, inspection and data requirements at enquiry stage and they are designed in rather than added afterwards.
Can I see the machine working before it is dispatched?
Yes. Every SPM is trialled on your actual components at our Bhosari, Pune works before dispatch, and you are welcome to attend the trial.
What information do you need to quote a riveting SPM?
Component drawing or sample, material and thickness, rivet type and positions, number of rivets per part, target cycle time, production volume per shift, and details of any line the machine must connect to.
Where are your SPMs designed and built?
In-house at our facility in Bhosari, Pune, in the PCMC industrial belt. We supply manufacturers across Pune, Chakan, Ranjangaon, Maharashtra and the rest of India.
