An index riveting special purpose machine sets several rivets on one component by indexing the part or the head between rivet positions automatically. The operator loads once; the machine handles every rivet position in sequence.

Rotary or linear indexing — which?

Rotary suits a small station count at high cycle rate and gives a mechanically locked dwell. Linear suits large parts, higher station counts, or a line that may be extended later.

Can inspection be built into the cycle?

Yes. Rivet height, forming force and part presence can all be checked in-station and logged, so a defective part is detected before further value is added.
