About the Hydropneumatic Impact Riveting

A hydro-pneumatic impact riveting machine uses shop air to drive an oil intensifier, multiplying pressure so a compact cylinder delivers press-shop force. The stroke is fast and unloaded on approach, then short and very high in force at the rivet — high output without a hydraulic power pack running continuously.

How does an air-over-oil booster work?

Air acting on a large piston pressurises oil behind a much smaller one. The ratio of the two areas multiplies the pressure, so shop air at 6 bar produces press-shop force at the tool without a pump.

Why is the approach stroke separate?

Because moving the tool down to the work needs almost no force. Doing that on air alone is fast and cheap; the intensifier engages only for the short loaded portion, which is what keeps cycle time and air consumption low.

What maintenance does it need?

Principally seal kits and clean, dry air. There is no oil reservoir to manage and no pump to service, which is the main attraction over a full hydraulic machine.
