A foot-operated pneumatic clinching press built around a wide work platform, so an operator can support and position a large panel with both hands while the pedal actuates the stroke. The clinch joint is cold-formed between punch and die, with no rivet, fastener or weld.
Panel size. Once a part is too large to hold steady with one hand, a pedal and a supporting platform stop the operator fighting the part, which is what causes joint position variation.
A single clinch typically carries comparable shear load to a spot weld of similar diameter but lower peel strength. Designers normally compensate with slightly more joints and gain a joint needing no consumables and no rework of burnt coating.
Yes. Clinching is purely mechanical cold forming with no melting, so dissimilar metals can be joined where resistance spot welding cannot do so reliably. Upper-sheet ductility is the limiting factor.
