A self-clinching machine presses hardware — nuts, studs, standoffs and spacers — into a pre-punched hole in sheet metal, displacing material into an undercut so the fastener becomes permanently captive and will not spin or pull out. It gives you a strong threaded feature on sheet too thin to tap, and it does it in one controlled stroke with repeatable seating depth, which is what keeps the fastener flush on the reverse face.
