A hydro-pneumatic press uses an air-over-oil intensifier to convert shop air pressure into much higher hydraulic force at the ram. You get press-level force for pressing, forming, staking and assembly without installing, powering and maintaining a full hydraulic system. Approach is fast on air with the working stroke on oil, which keeps cycle times short.
