A fastener insertion press that installs self-clinching hardware — nuts, studs and standoffs of the PEM type — into sheet metal. The fastener is pressed into a pre-punched hole and its knurled shank displaces sheet material into an undercut, creating a permanent threaded feature flush with the panel.

Does the sheet need a pre-punched hole?

Yes, and hole size matters. The hole must match the fastener specification closely — oversize and the fastener spins, undersize and the panel dishes around it.

Can it install fasteners into stainless steel?

It depends on the fastener grade relative to the panel. Self-clinching relies on the panel being more ductile than the fastener, so stainless panels need a correspondingly harder fastener — send the panel grade and fastener part number and we will confirm.
